Bridging the Gap in the Mental Health Care System with Clinical Intervention

Formed in December 2017, Ambre’s Bridge Counseling and Consulting is the result of years of human evolution and growth, along with great suffering and disappointment in the condition of our health and mental health care system. While there are so many great resources and programs created within our community, our country, and even the world, these are full of “gaps” as well as, delays in the incorporation and application of cutting edge, science and research that is part of the evolutionary process of the nature of the science we apply in our work as practitioners and advocates.

The gaps in the service system resulted in the tragic, painful and horrible quality of life and ultimate death of my sister, Ambre, at the age of 33. There are no words to fully process this experience, especially as a practitioner in the field who truly believes in the science. Needless to say, my answer to this was the creation of Ambre’s Bridge Counseling and Consulting. The mission and goal of Ambre’s Bridge is to bridge the gap in the service system, as well as, apply the most up-to-date in cutting edge resources, clinical interventions, and psychoeducation available in today’s research. This is also to be done in collaboration with all service providers, resources, and other members within the community that have contact with our clients and their family.

Just as taking a child outside of the family, attempting to do treatment and then plugging them back into the family is not as effective as caring for the whole family system with the child within that system, so is it with the community in the community resources and the families that are receiving the services. applying a Systems-based approach with the innovative and cutting edge science of Neuroscience and Neurobiology in mental health and the evolution of a process of seeing mental health related issues as being physical and not only psychological is how we will create the opportunity for healing. In addition to providing good clinical care for children, individuals, couples, and families, Ambres Bridge’s goal is to create an atmosphere for other resources and services and collaboration with the services. These services include collaborating and receiving beneficial information, knowledge, understanding, support, with the added benefit of linking our clients and utilizing warm handoffs, as well as case consultation.

Early intervention doesn’t start with going to a doctor's office or even a therapist office. I believe early intervention starts in the home with parents, and in the school with teachers and daycare providers. These are the people who are very significant stakeholders in the lives of these children. The more we empower them and equip them with the skills and support to properly provide the care, the more we will strengthen the resiliency and future capacity of the children they care for.
